Zoomies on Wheels

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Zoomies on Wheels.

Is the treadmill safe for my dog?

Absolutely. Professional dog treadmills are designed specifically for canine biomechanics — they're wider, lower to the ground, and have safety rails. Every session is 100% supervised by Zack, who has extensive experience with dogs of all breeds and is Pet CPR certified. We monitor your dog's behavior, breathing, and energy levels throughout the entire session and adjust accordingly. We never leave a dog unattended on the treadmill.

Is my dog suitable for treadmill exercise?

Most dogs can benefit from treadmill exercise. We work with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages — from high-energy working breeds to senior dogs needing low-impact exercise. During your intro session, we'll assess your dog's fitness level, temperament, and any special needs to create a customized exercise plan. Dogs with certain medical conditions may require veterinary approval before starting.

What type of treadmill do you use?

We offer both dog-driven and motor-driven treadmill options to best suit your dog's needs. Dog-Driven (slat) treadmills are powered by your dog's own movement — great for building strength and confidence at the dog's natural pace. Motor-Driven (electric) treadmills maintain a consistent speed and are ideal for cardiovascular conditioning, endurance training, and controlled exercise. During your intro session we'll determine which option fits best, and many dogs benefit from using both types at different stages of their fitness journey.

What makes treadmill exercise better than regular walks?

Treadmill sessions complement (not replace) outdoor activities. The advantages: weather-proof (rain, snow, extreme heat or cold won't interrupt the routine), controlled environment (no distractions from other dogs, wildlife, or traffic), consistent intensity for cardiovascular conditioning, measurable progress (track distance, speed, duration), joint-friendly low-impact exercise for seniors or rehab, and mental stimulation alongside physical activity.

What about nasty weather? Do you still come out?

Yes — rain, snow, wind, or heat. That's the whole point of a mobile, climate-controlled trailer. Your dog gets consistent exercise year-round without anyone standing outside in the elements. If roads are genuinely unsafe we'll reach out to reschedule, but otherwise we show up.

What breeds do you work with?

All breeds and sizes! We adjust the treadmill settings and session length for everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. Every session is tailored to your dog's specific needs.

What if my dog is overweight?

We specialize in weight management. We'll create a custom plan with gradual progression to avoid injury, regular weigh-ins, and nutritional guidance. Many of our best success stories are dogs who needed to shed a few pounds.

Do you come to my house?

Yes! We're a fully mobile service. The Zoomies trailer comes to your driveway or yard. No driving to a facility, no drop-offs/pickups, no stress for you or your dog.

What if my dog doesn't like the treadmill?

We do a gentle, patient introduction in the first session. Most dogs take to it quickly with positive reinforcement. The first session may be a variable length (five to fifteen minutes) so we always end on a positive note. If your dog isn't comfortable after the first session, we'll continue to gradually work up to a full session.

Can I watch the session?

Absolutely — and owners are encouraged to watch the first session or two so the dog gets used to Zack. After that, owners are welcome to watch as much or as little as they'd like. Session recaps with photos and video (when applicable) will be uploaded to your dog's portal.

What vaccinations are required?

All dogs must be current on Rabies and DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus). Bordetella is recommended. You'll provide your vet's name and phone number during the intake process.

How do I track my dog's progress?

Log in to your member portal at zoomiesonwheels.co/account to see your dog's cumulative miles, weight progress, session history, behavioral notes, and upcoming appointments.

What areas do you serve?

We currently serve Twin Falls, Buhl, Kimberly, Filer, and Jerome in the Magic Valley area. We're expanding — contact us if you're nearby!

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes, cancel anytime from your member portal. Your membership stays active through the end of the current billing period. No contracts, no cancellation fees.

What is the mileage tracking system?

We track every mile your dog runs during sessions. After each workout you'll get a recap email — mileage, energy notes, and any recommendations from Zack. All of it lives on your dog's profile in the member portal so you can watch progress over time.

Do you offer multi-dog discounts?

Yes! Select how many dogs to see discounted multi-dog rates. The Zoomies trailer can exercise two dogs at a time.

Do I need to be home during the session?

For the first few sessions, we recommend being present so your dog feels comfortable with the new routine. Once your dog is familiar with us and the treadmill, many clients choose to be away during sessions — we're happy to work around your schedule. We'll always update you on how the session went.

Where do you set up the treadmill?

We typically set up in your driveway or any other flat outdoor space with adequate room. The trailer is mobile and self-contained, so we don't need access to your home's electrical outlets. We'll work with you to find the best spot that's convenient for you and comfortable for your dog.

What should I have ready for the session?

Very little preparation is needed. Just make sure your dog hasn't eaten a large meal within 1–2 hours of the session (to prevent discomfort), has had a chance to go to the bathroom beforehand, and has a collar or harness on (we bring our own leash if needed). Access to water for after the workout is helpful. We bring everything else.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to potentially fill that time slot and keep our schedule running smoothly. Same-day cancellations may be subject to a cancellation fee. Contact us as soon as possible if plans change — we understand life happens.
